Because of COVID-19 our Annual Recital Photo Shoot was cancelled, so CSD did our 1st ever Porch Portraits. We travel 250 miles and 19 towns in 2 weeks to take Pictures of our dancers at their houses!!! We loved ever minute of this.
The studio’s company dancers attend several workshops or conventions per year, to keep on top of new dance treads and enhance their technique. The workshops give the dancers the opportunity to be taught by the top master teachers and choreographers in the country.
Competitions allow for extra performance opportunities and for critique from judges. It also gives the dancers a chance to travel to different cities throughout the country. Through participations in competitions, we hope to motivate both students and faculty by exposing them to the highest caliber of talent available. For us, competition is an education. .
The studio’s dancers attended the Dance The World Event at Disney World in Orlando, Fl. They Danced down Main Street and All through Magic Kingdom. The also danced on Stage at EPCOT!!!
Dancers from Charlene’s School of Dance in Cresson travel each spring to Washington, DC to take part in the National Cherry Blossom Parade. The dancers are part of the All Star Dance Team made up of approximately 550 dancers from around the United States. The dancers along with their families and friends spend two days in the nation’s capital touring several sights. It is fast becoming a tradition at the school. CSD has participated with national dance team from it's start in 2003. The CSD Dancers were honored to be a selected to be part of the opening production and finale for the 100th Anniversary Parade held April 14, 2012 and continue to perform in those roles today. .
Each year we perform at the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk at Peoples Natural Gas Field, Altoona. The CSD Cancer Kicker Dancers perform during the opening ceremonies. The dancers are honored to be joined by breast cancer survivors and fighters for their performance.The CSD Cancer Kickers have raised thousands of dollars for breast cancer awareness and would like to thank all of those who have helped support the team.
The studio participates in several area festivals throughout the summer and fall. This gives the students extra enrichment opportunities and is great for the community to see the talent and hard work of the area children. .
This will be the studio’s 20th year showcasing our talented students at Idlewild Park and Soak Zone in Ligonier, PA. All dancers from the school are invited to perform. This day is always packed with fun for the dancers and their families.
In order for the parents to observe the progress and development of the pupils, we will have visiting days. Also in the spring, the parents of the dancers are invited to come to class with their child and participate in learning their child's recital dance.
- The week of Halloween, all younger classes are invited to dress up in their Halloween costumes to parade around the studio, play games, perform a Halloween dance and of course get treats.
- A few times during the dance year, the student helper group gives dance parents a chance to have a night out on the town. Young students are invited to spend the evening at the studio. The student helpers offer a variety of fun activities to do during the evening.
The Charlene's School of Dance dancers are part of the pre-game entertainment at the Curve game. The studio is proud to participate in the Cresson Area Community Night at Blair County Ball Park. The students had a blast performing. Come out and join us for a fun night at the ballpark.
